Gippsland campus

The Gippsland campus is Monash University's only non-metropolitan campus. It is in the town of Churchill, in the foothills of the picturesque Strzelecki Ranges. Travelling between Melbourne and the campus takes around two hours.

At the Gippsland campus, we place a strong emphasis on meeting regional skills needs, while keeping the Monash focus on global trends. We offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs and research activity within eight of the University's 10 faculties.

Set on 63 hectares of landscaped grounds, the campus has almost 4500 students and 400 staff. We have fantastic facilities including medical and science laboratories, art studios, an art gallery, a licensed bistro, bookshop and student lounge.

Getting there

By train

On weekdays, trains run between Southern Cross station and Morwell train station 17 times.

Connections to Morwell are also available at Flinders Street, Caulfield and Dandenong stations. See V/Line or Metlink for timetables and more information.

Shuttle bus and taxi service

A direct bus and taxi service links Monash Gippsland with Morwell train station to meet two morning and two afternoon trains from Melbourne.

Latrobe Valley bus services also run from Morwell train station to the Gippsland campus. Or you can call a taxi on +61 3 5122 1000.

By car

From Melbourne's city centre, take CityLink, the Monash Freeway and then the Princes Freeway. It takes around two hours. If you are travelling from Melbourne's north or south, travel along EastLink and exit east at the Monash Freeway. Exit at the fourth Morwell exit via Monash Way to Churchill.

CityLink and EastLink are both tollways. Please check their websites if you need information about how to pay the toll.

If you are travelling from Melbourne airport, add 15 minutes travel time.

Accommodation at Gippsland

The Gippsland campus has on-campus accommodation for 390 students in independent living houses and units. There are more than 300 fully furnished units available for on-campus living.
